Sales Engineer/Sales Manager (Industrial Automation Solutions)

part inspection solutions leveraging AI machine vision technologies for the industrial and consumer
products markets. Based in Waterloo, Ontario, the organization employs a talented and dynamic team
of engineers who focus on new technology development, build innovative products, and maintain and
support our deployed solutions.

As a Sales Engineer/Sales Manager, you will join the organization’s team to support the team in solution
selling to prospects, negotiating contracts, consulting on product development plans and regularly
communicating the advances in our product’s features and benefits to our customers. The ideal candidate
will have a passion for technology, and utilize technical expertise and understanding of our products to
articulate the value proposition of our complex technical solutions to a broad stakeholder audience.

Job Location: Waterloo, Ontario or Troy, MI; using hybrid remote work
schedules. This position will include required travel to client sites and corporate
locations.

Reports to: Managing Director

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or Marketing
  • Minimum of 5 years of sales experience in the industrial automation or manufacturing industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven success in closing sales of integrated (s/w, h/w & controls) manufacturing solutions.
  • Demonstrated hunter, not farmer, capable of generating opportunities.
  • Leading project teams to ensure delivery of solutions meeting customer expectations and commitments.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Set and achieve sales goals to support business growth objectives.
  • Supports the development of sales proposals, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of our products and their benefits.
  • Proactively develop high-quality sales leads through prospecting, attending tradeshows and leveraging existing networks.
  • Build up relationship networks with decision makers at key leads and customers, using technical expertise to provide valuable solutions to address our customer needs.
  • Support the preparation of quotations, sales activities and deal closure.
  • Determine improvements by analyzing cost-benefit ratios of equipment, supplies, or service applications in customer environment and engineering or proposing changes in equipment, processes, or services.
  • Gain customer acceptance by explaining or demonstrating cost reductions and operations improvements.
  • Support customer staff with technical information and training to ensure successful delivery.
  • Collect and provide intel through researching, collecting, analyzing, and summarizing market information, customer feedback, technical application trends for future product development ideas.
  • Monthly updates of performance relative to business, department and personal performance metrics.
  • Updates CRM system to manage customer information, sales activity and reporting requirements.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed, recommending options and courses of action, and implementing directives.
