Full Job Description

Our client a high growth real estate development company based in central GTA has an immediate opening for a Controller, in this senior leadership role you will be responsible for the following,

Hands on responsible for all day to day and period end accounting managing a small team.
Prepare the financial packages and ensure accuracy and timely delivery to internal and external stakeholders while verifying reporting requirements are consistently met
Research and identify accounting issues taking corrective action to minimize opportunity for problems to occur
Building and presenting for approval plans/ budgets and the development of future strategic plans
Involved in all financial aspects during the whole Development lifecycle starting from the land acquisition until the Condo registration.
Preparing all financial documents proforma, budget, financial statement, …etc. related to the Real Estate Development and Construction.
Track cost vs budget during pre-development, development, and construction stages.
Working with the banks to leverage the most favorable construction financing
Prepare monthly construction draws
Project and maintain cash flow projections for equity needs, both day to day and long-term
Monitor the real estate markets, financial markets, and residential housing funding for trends that might affect the business
Manage all annual tax returns and reconcile all required schedules
Prepare and manage the capital calls and communicate with the partners and/or investors
Review property budgets and forecasting for assigned property portfolios
Work with the development and construction team to update and review anticipated costs
Other ad hoc projects

CPA designation
5 – 10 years of experience in Finance and Accounting in the Real Estate Development industry is required
Strong financial planning, analysis and forecasting skills, and experience creating and managing to business plans.
Strong understanding of GAAP & IFRS
A self-starter who can work independently in a fast-paced and challenging environment
Demonstrated strong attention to detail and adheres to high standards for work quality
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to the company’s mission
Self-motivated with good work ethic and willingness to learn
Proficient at financial modeling in Excel, including but not limited to complex formulas, pivot tables, and data table lookups
Strong oral and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels in an organization
